On The Right Road

ROAD SAFETY & SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PERFORMANCE AND WORKSHOP YEAR 1 - 4

DURATION OF PERFORMANCE 30 MINUTES, WORKSHOP 30 MINUTES. 30 PUPILS (1 CLASS) MAXIMUM PER WORKSHOP

'On The Right Road' is an Interactive Theatre Programme for year groups 1 to 4 exploring the positive and negative travel options of the school journey and beyond. The performance addresses the various issues of travelling to school safely through the eyes of 2 friends Craig and Jonna. The follow up workshop focuses on the student’s personal school journey.

The session raises various questions, addresses potential hazards, delivers safety messages and is packed full of startling facts. The duration of the performance is 30 minutes (which can be watched by as many pupils as desired), the follow up workshop is also 30 minutes with a maximum 30 pupils taking part in the workshop. Groups can be class groups or whatever the teacher deems fit.

1 Show + 2 Workshops per AM/PM / 2 Shows + 4 Workshops per day.

Originally commissioned in 2008 the project has returned every year, supporting the School Crossing Patrol programme.

We are currently finishing a tour with Hillingdon Council. Here one school Belmore Primary Academy talks about the impact of the programme on their pupils.

Producing high-quality theatre-in-education that engages staff and students is of paramount importance – this mission drives us forward. The cherry on the cake is that when we do such a great job, we receive multiple reviews testifying to that statement.

Every project delivers a different experience to those involved so it rewarding to hear first-hand what our audience took away with them. For some, our projects can be reflective and thought-provoking, for others they can install confidence and ignite passion. Please take a moment to read some reviews from past and present Wizard Theatre clients.

Wizard Theatre developed 'On the right road' for us several years ago as part of a bespoke project, this proved so popular that although the project is now complete we continue to offer this to our schools. The pupils really enjoy the performance and find it easy to relate to the characters: Craig & Jonna. It is great for promoting road safety and sustainable travel and the key messages make pupils think about the way they travel to school and the advantages/disadvantages of their school journey. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to promote sustainable travel in a fun and interactive way.

Fun and educational! Talking to strangers segment particularly well dealt with. Flexible enough to take their responses into consideration and got the relevant message across in a very entertaining way.
