Choices

DRUG AWARENESS WORKSHOP

YEAR 5 & 6 - 30 PUPILS (1 CLASS) PER WORKSHOP

DURATION OF WORKSHOP 60 MINUTES

‘CHOICES’ is an interactive theatre workshop which aims to encourage young people to make the ‘choices’ that are right for them. The hour long session explores differences and similarities between legal and illegal drugs, students are given the opportunity to voice their own opinion as we examine how peer-influence and human nature can affect the choices we make. We investigate peer-pressure and more importantly peer-preference and reflect upon our own current life choices.

A teacher’s pack with suggestions for future lesson plans, accompanies this dynamic, fun and exciting workshop; that challenges pupils to think outside the box.

Now in its 17th year in Brent Primary Schools and 11th in Harrow, the workshops continue to resonate with staff and pupils alike.

Producing high-quality theatre-in-education that engages staff and students is of paramount importance – this mission drives us forward. The cherry on the cake is that when we do such a great job, we receive multiple reviews testifying to that statement.

Every project delivers a different experience to those involved so it rewarding to hear first-hand what our audience took away with them. For some, our projects can be reflective and thought-provoking, for others they can install confidence and ignite passion. Please take a moment to read some reviews from past and present Wizard Theatre clients.

Dr Triplett's Primary School

Thank you both for such an engaging and informative workshop. The children and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was really inclusive and fun. It was particularly useful to enable them to explore peer pressure/preference (and choices) as they are preparing for their transition to secondary school.

Fryent Primary School

The children have gained great confidence from the workshop, particularly the peer influence session. Thank you for very accessible and important work
